The Summit County Coroner’s Office has determined that the 35-year-old man discovered dead in the Dillon Reservoir earlier this year died of drowning.

The Coroner’s Office said that an autopsy found that Jonathan Wilson, of Fairplay, died as a result of drowning and that complications of chronic ethanol use contributed to his death. The manner of death was determined to be an accident.

Law enforcement personnel recovered Wilson’s body from the reservoir on the morning of Aug. 6, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. A group of kayakers had reported seeing the body floating in the water in the Giberson Bay area. A preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play and no risk to public safety.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday, Oct. 22, that the agency can’t give more details on the case since the investigation is still open. The Sheriff’s Office previously said that Wilson was not wearing a life jacket or personal flotation device when his body was recovered.
