Dillon’s search for tiki bar operator continues with a request for proposals

The lease Pug Ryan’s Brewery holds for the Dillon Marina’s tiki bar expires in November 2026, and the Dillon Town Council decided in August to make a request for proposals for a new concessionaire.
At a Nov. 2 work session, the council reviewed a request for proposals document. It had previously reviewed the document Oct. 28 and directed town staff to make changes.
Council member Barbara Richard expressed concern Nov. 2 that the document did not mention the possibility of seawall replacement interrupting tiki bar operations during the term of the lease.
The request for proposals states the lease will be five years, and marina director Craig Simson said it is unlikely the seawall will be replaced within that timeframe.
Mayor Carolyn Skowyra asked the council if they were comfortable approving the request for proposals knowing it is unlikely the seawall gets replaced during the lease. The council members indicated their approval, and staff published the request the next day.
