Explore Summit winter edition is out now
Summit County’s signature season has arrived, and as terrain expands at local ski areas and other winter activity options become available, locals and visitors are looking forward to adventures in the snowy landscape.
Now, the latest winter edition of Explore Summit magazine has arrived just in time to help plan those adventures and give an expansive look at what the High Country has to offer.
This edition of the twice-yearly magazine provides a look at the fun and food available in Summit County. Always wanted to try Nordic skiing but never been able to find an easy entry point? Pick up a copy of Explore Summit and check out a handy starter guide to the sport. Planning a trip and need one more family-friendly activity to add to the itinerary? Our ice skating guide gives a detailed overview of each skating rink in Summit County.
Additional useful resources in the magazine include a winter event calendar and guides to notable places to eat, drink or spend the day.
Explore Summit is a celebration of all things Summit County, and this year’s edition takes a look at some of the area’s furriest heroes: ski area avalanche dogs. Though it may be tempting to simply look at the photos of the pups, the article explains the extensive training required to qualify as certified avalanche dogs.
Other feature articles include the history of snowboarding at Breckenridge Ski Resort — the first major Colorado ski area to allow riders — and a colorful exploration of the fashion scene on the slopes.
Grab a free copy of Explore Summit atop Summit Daily newsstands and prepare for a winter worth remembering.
