FOOD BANK FUNDING
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is planning to dole out up to $10 million in state funding for food banks, as hundreds of thousands of Coloradans risk losing federal benefits next month. Roughly 1 in 10 Coloradans — more than 600,000 low-income residents — rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, to buy food. The federal government sends Colorado SNAP enrollees about $120 million each month to purchase food. But that funding could be cut off starting Nov. 1 if the federal government shutdown drags on.

HACIENDA REAL REOPENS
The Frisco Mexican restaurant Hacienda Real reopened a month after it closed following an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation. The agency executed a search warrant Sept. 16 at the property, and the restaurant said its computers were taken, forcing it to close. Summit Daily submitted records requests seeking more information about the ICE operation, but the federal agency declined to provide any information.

I-70 ROAD WORK
A recent county commissioner meeting with state transportation officials covered planned improvements to Interstate 70’s Exit 203 in Frisco. The work, which is expected to cost $44 million, is expected to span two construction seasons, with the first season involving widening the westbound and eastbound exit lanes from I-70 and building an underpass under Colorado Highway 9.
