Housing inventory

Real estate markets across Colorado are seeing growing inventory. While housing prices have remained stagnant in some areas, other markets on the Western Slope are seeing price drops. Compared to May, new listings for single-family homes fell 11.2% statewide in June, while condo listings fell by 14.2%, according to the Colorado Association of Realtors. In Summit, inventory is up 32% and the average sales price for a single-family home dropped 16% compared to June of last year.

Road construction

After two weeks of partial and full closures in July, Swan Mountain Road construction is continuing with full and partial closures possibly lasting through Aug. 9. The work involves culvert and guardrail replacement, grading and more. The recpath will be open during construction. For updated alerts on closures, text SWANMTN to 888777.



Honduras volunteerism

Maggie Ducayet, founder of Summit in Honduras, has been visiting the country for more than 20 years, asking its residents what type of support would be helpful. The biggest needs, they said, were in the medical and education realms. During a June trip to Honduras, Summit high school students put their Spanish skills to the test while working on projects — including building energy-efficient stoves with vents — to help provide relief for the nation’s rise in asthma case rates.

  • July 31: A free resource fair is from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Summit County Community & Senior Center in Frisco. 
  • Aug. 1: A free block party is from 4:30-8:30 p.m. at Fourth Street Crossing in Silverthorne for First Friday. The event includes live music, local artisans, art activities and more.
  • Aug. 1: A showing of “What the Constitution Means to Me” is from 7-9 p.m. at the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $25-$55.
  • Aug. 2: A free foam party for children is from 11 a.m. to noon at the Silverthorne library.
