English transcript:
Election Day
Ballots began hitting registered voters’ mailboxes earlier this month, but Coloradans will have until 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 4, to register to vote and cast a ballot. Mailed ballots can be turned in at drop boxes at the following locations:
- The old Summit County Courthouse in Breckenridge
- Summit County Commons in Frisco
- The town halls in Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne
If you prefer to vote in person, you can do that early at the South Branch Library in Breckenridge. On Election Day, you can vote in person at the South Branch Library in Breckenridge, the Summit County Community & Senior Center in Frisco and the North Branch Library in Silverthorne.
Regional bus service
Summit County staff have recommended not to proceed with a regional transportation authority at this time. The creation of an authority could have provided a funding mechanism (including the ability to collect taxes) that would have helped fund regional transportation services. The initial goal of the project was to provide more connectivity with surrounding communities that are home to employees who work in Summit County.
New housing
This month, about 60 women picked up circular saws, nail guns and paintbrushes and got to work. The women — engaged community members and business leaders — were helping build homes in Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley’s Stratton Flats project as part of Women Build Day. The volunteer efforts are key to helping reduce the cost of housing for those in need. According to Habitat, the homes appraise for about $600,000 per unit, but the organization sells them for around $350,000.
