Land trust to break ground Oct. 21 on community and education center in Park County
The Mountain Area Land Trust will break ground on a new environmental education and community center at its Sacramento Creek Ranch property in Fairplay on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Educators and researchers have used the property to study climate change, moth migration, water quality, Alpine pollinators and more, and the barn on the property will be renovated to expand “high-impact” conservation and educational programming, according to a news release.
The center will feature over 2,000 square feet of classroom and administrative space and easy access to the ranch’s 71 acres of natural areas, trails and beaver ponds. Expected to be completed in early 2026, the center will be home to High Rockies Community School’s K-8 outdoor education curriculum.
The groundbreaking starts at 10 a.m., and more information about the land trust and ranch can be found at SaveTheLand.org.
