June 11, 1940 – October 3, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jerry F. Eggleston, who departed this life on October 3, 2025, in Breckenridge, Colorado. Born on June 11, 1940, Jerry touched the hearts of many throughout his journey, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
Jerry was born in Washington, D.C., to George and Alice Eggleston, then after spending some time in Asheville, NC, moved to Galena, IL, where he spent the remainder of his childhood. After graduating from Grinnell College (Iowa), in 1962, he joined the U.S. Air Force. In 1963, he married Judith Zuelsdorf, of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Their first son, David, was born in 1964; Thomas, the second son, was born in 1966. After serving in the Air Force honorably for twenty years, he retired in 1982. He then brought his family back to Colorado, where they owned a home since 1968. In 1992, they moved to Breckenridge, CO. He was extremely proud of both Galena and Breckenridge and would boast about both to anyone that would listen. He was also a life-long philatelist and a devoted bridge player, achieving the Life Master status.
Jerry is survived by two sons, David Eggleston, of Glendale, Colorado, and Thomas Eggleston, of Fort Collins, Colorado. In addition, he is survived by one younger brother, Jon Eggleston, of Duluth, Minnesota, and two younger sisters, Janet Eggleston and Julie Eggleston, both of Galena, Illinois. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
A service to honor Jerry’s life will be held at Olinger Chapel Hill, 6601 South Colorado Blvd., Centennial, Colorado on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 12:00pm. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Judith Eggleston, who was lost in 2008. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate the remarkable life of Jerry.
