Marquita “Tweet” Arnesen passed peacefully in her sleep under the light of the full harvest moon on October 6th, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Always smiling to the end of this life, heaven rejoices her arrival.
Tweet was born the third child of Ellis and Lottie Robins, in Norman, Oklahoma, on May 26, 1953. Raised in Purcell, Oklahoma, she attended Mary Simpson Grade School and Purcell High School. She won the Hula Hoop contest at Mary Simpson Elementary. She was voted “Biggest Flirt” by her senior class in 1971. She was crowned Spanish Queen, Senior Football Attendant, and Miss School Spirit. She was in the Choir, Drama Club, Pep Club, on the Social Committee and played Powder Puff Football. She was everywhere, except in trees. She didn’t climb trees.

After graduation, Tweet moved to Summit County where she met her soulmate, David Bruce Arnesen, known as Rocky Mountain Slim. They bore one son, Drew Bradley Arnesen. Tweet’s love for her family was unwavering. Through good times, she was a radiant light that made everyone smile; in hard times, her presence was a beacon of hope and love.
Tweet lived a life defined by love — both the love she gave and the love she inspired in others. She had an extraordinary ability to form deep, genuine connections with people. To know Tweet was to feel seen, valued, and cared for. Her warmth filled every room she entered, and her wholehearted hugs were sought out by those who knew her.
Those closest to Tweet knew her as a woman of fearless honesty. Her directness was never harsh — it was her way of showing that she cared enough to tell the truth. She spoke from the heart, with integrity, and compassion. Her words were often exactly what others needed to hear, even when they didn’t know it themselves.
Beyond her honesty and love, Tweet’s life sparkled with joy. She was vibrant and fun-loving — a 4’11” tiny titan who danced her way to the front of every crowd. She was the loudest voice cheering “razzle dazzle” at Drew’s baseball games, and her laughter was a signature sound to those who loved her, a reminder that joy lives in the everyday.
Tweet is survived by her husband and friend of 42 years, Dave Arnesen; her son, Drew Arnesen; her chosen daughter, Lisa Eurich; and her family in Oklahoma.
Tweet’s life was a beautiful testament to love, truth, joy, and devotion — qualities that will continue to ripple through the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of her life will be announced as the summer solstice arrives.
