March 19, 1945 – July 21, 2025
She grew up on a ranch in the Bijou basin in Eastern Colorado along with 8 brothers and sisters. When she graduated from Kiowa High School she moved to Denver where she renewed an acquaintance with her future husband, Rick. Married in July of 1966 they moved to Idaho Springs for a short time before her husband was called into military service. Shortly after his return from Vietnam they moved to Summit County and never left. Their two children, Jennifer and Eric, grew up in these mountains. Naomi loved children and served in various ways caring for them, both in Church and in her home.
Naomi’s gift was service and hospitality and despite being hampered for 45 years working in the confines of a “one butt kitchen”, as she called it, she entertained family and friends; cooking, serving and hosting excellent meals for her guests. She loved the Lord and worked in her home alongside her husband caring for and ministering to the homeless and addicted in our community. For 20 years she helped in the family business of land surveying. She served for many years as a judge for both local and national elections. She loved gardening and spent many delightful summer hours watering and weeding her flower beds.
She lost both her parents, John and Alice Ehmann, two brothers, John Jr and Mark, and two sisters, Betty and Janet prior to her death. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rick, her daughter, Jennifer (Danny) and her son, Eric (Johnna) and five grandchildren,. Ian, Tiler, Tia, Grant and Erica.
If desired, one can make a donation to Aim for the Summit, the non-profit corporation she and her husband established in 2020 to aid people encountering homelessness. The address for Aim for the Summit is
