Susan Marie Hendry passed away on July 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, and raised in South Freeport, Maine, Susan later made her home in Summit County, Colorado, where she built a life filled with family, friendship, and a deep love of the mountains.
Susan will be remembered for her strength, wit, warmth, independence, and adventurous spirit. She loved skiing at Arapahoe Basin, hiking, gardening, dogs, reading Jane Austen and the classics, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her greatest recent joy was being “Sasa” to her granddaughter, Rose.
Susan is survived by her husband, Steve; daughter, Alayna; son-in-law, Louis; granddaughter, Rose; mother, Caroline; brothers Christopher and Paul and their wives, Gwendolyn and Lynn; and many beloved relatives and friends.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held Saturday, August 1, from 2–5 p.m. at Marnie’s at Arapahoe Basin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s memory to the ACLU.
