Colorado Highway 9 reopens following rockslide
1 p.m.: Colorado Highway 9 has reopened.
11 a.m.: Colorado Department of Transportation spokesperson Austyn Dineen said crews are working to remove seven boulders from the road after a rockslide on Colorado Highway 9 near Heeney and Green Mountain Reservoir.
Dineen said both directions of the road are closed from mile point 118.5 to 126.2. This stretch is around 12 miles from Silverthorne and 12 miles from Kremmling. She said the majority of the boulders have been cleared and the road is expected to reopen this afternoon.
Trooper Gabriel Moltrer with the Colorado State Patrol said his agency got a call reporting the rockslide at 7:56 a.m. and closed the road to start mitigation at 8:26 a.m. He said there are no reports indicating there were any collisions involving vehicles or boulders.
10:30 a.m.: A detour that uses Heeney Road has been created bypass a closure on Colorado Highway 9 near Green Mountain Reservoir, according to an SC Alert.
The closure is in place due to a rock slide event near Heeney and the reservoir. The closure extends from Heeney Road to Haystack Mountain Road.
