The Summit County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a local resident on charges of sexual exploitation of a child following a monthslong investigation.
Khidhr Odom, 31, was arrested Wednesday, April 10, and booked in the Summit County jail on 10 charges of sexual exploitation of a child, which are Class 3 felonies, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives started investigating after receiving a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, the Sheriff’s Office said in an April 11 news release.
Prior to Odom’s arrest, detectives executed a search warrant at his residence, where multiple internet-capable devices were seized. Forensic examination of those devices reportedly yielded additional evidence.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, and no additional information is available for release at this time, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with additional information regarding this case to contact Detective Taylor Piper at 970-423-8958. If a person suspects a child is being sexually exploited, deputies say they should contact Summit County emergency dispatch at 970-423-8958 or the national CyberTipline at 1-800-843-5678. Reports can also be made online at CyberTipline.org.
