In a Facebook post Thursday, Summit Fire & EMS shared pictures and videos from a retirement ceremony it held for Fire Chief Travis Davis, who worked in emergency services for 32 years. The post states Davis joined the department’s predecessor, Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue, in 1997.
The post touts things Summit Fire & EMS achieved under Davis’ leadership, including renewing its accreditation, creating a collective-bargaining agreement, upgrading its fleet, establishing a wildland fire division, building a new station in Silverthorne and more.
Although the post states Davis is unsure of his plans for retirement, they will include spending time with family and friends in the Southwest and in Colorado.
The department board of directors appointed Deputy Chief Brian Schenking as interim fire chief, according to the post.
Summit Fire & EMS thanked Davis for his leadership and congratulated him on a “well-earned retirement.”
