Three board of education seats are up for a vote this November

Voters will be tasked with filing three vacant seats on the Summit School District Board of Education during an election slated for Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Board members Chris Guarino, Johanna Kugler and Lisa Webster will be leaving their seats. Webster is the only one who is currently term-limited and unable to run again.

Guarino said he throughly enjoyed his time serving but that he needs to focus on his company that has grown by dozens of employees since he began serving after winning a seat in 2021. Additionally, he wants to be more present for his son as he becomes middle schooler.

Kugler said she will be taking a step back to take care of her father who has cancer and to be able to spend more time with her children. She said she will remain an advocate of public education, just in a fashion other than serving on the board.

Candidates running include Breckenridge resident Tom Day, Frisco resident Kimberly Dyer, Dillon resident Jenniffer González and Dillon resident Whitney Horner.
