A sanitation line issue has delayed the reopening of a northbound Colorado Highway 9 turn lane at Frisco’s Exit 203 interchange, extending traffic impacts for motorists and trail users until at least Wednesday, June 17.
The Colorado Department of Transportation announced the right-turn lane from northbound Highway 9 onto Dillon Dam Road will remain closed for the first part of this week, after crews encountered an issue with a sanitation line, according to a news release. The lane had originally been scheduled to reopen this week.
Drivers can still access Dillon Dam Road using the through lane on northbound Highway 9.
The Frisco Recreation Path between Dillon Dam Road and Highway 9 will also remain closed through Wednesday, June 17. The delay comes as construction crews work on the ongoing reconstruction of the Interstate 70 Exit 203 interchange. Workers are widening the bridge over I-70 and building retaining walls that will support a future underpass connection beneath Highway 9.
Work on bridge abutments continues this week, with another concrete pour scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, ahead of girder placement on the west half of the bridge planned for Monday, June 22.
Traffic impacts this week include:
- Closure of the right-turn lane from Summit Boulevard onto Dillon Dam Road through Wednesday, June 17
- Closure of the Frisco Recreation Path between Dillon Dam Road and Summit Boulevard through Wednesday, June 17
- Possible nighttime single-lane closures on Dillon Dam Road for sanitary line work
- Shoulder closures on both sides of the I-70 bridge at Exit 203 while bridge widening work continues
- Daytime construction activities from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Nighttime construction activities from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The Exit 203 reconstruction project is expected to continue through fall 2027, with a winter shutdown planned between construction seasons. The project will reconfigure Colorado Highway 9, Dillon Dam Road and Lusher Court to reduce congestion and improve safety near the interchange. Plans also include a new frontage road connection beneath Highway 9, along with expanded bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure linking to existing recreation trails.
