Winter weather advisory to take effect in Summit County starting Friday afternoon

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for areas in Colorado including Summit County. The advisory is set to take effect on Friday, Jan. 17, at 4 p.m. and last until Saturday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m.

Summit County is expected to receive total snow accumulations between 4-10 inches, the advisory states, and deteriorating road conditions will likely impact travel Friday night.

Temperatures will remain low throughout the weekend. Saturday night will see a low of -11 and a 40% chance of snow, and Sunday will have a high of 13, a low of -10 and a 40% chance of snow.



Monday — Martin Luther King, Jr. Day — is expected to see a high near 11 and a low around -18.

Summit County’s ski resorts are expected to share in the bounty of snow. Weather forecasting app OpenSnow.com projects that Breckenridge Ski Resort, Keystone Resort and Arapahoe Basin Ski Area will see 4 inches of snow through Monday, Copper Mountain will receive 3 inches and Loveland Ski Area will receive 5 inches.
