The Breckenridge Police Department announced no criminal charges will come from the death of a man found behind City Market in February.

The department concluded its investigation into the death of Oscar Jose Mendez Dominguez, 26-year-old male from Breckenridge, according to a news release. Summit County Coroner Amber Flenniken wrote in an email that Dominguez’s cause of death was environmental exposure, specifically hypothermia, in the setting of ethanol intoxication. His autopsy ruled the manner of death as an accident, she wrote.

In its news release, the police department reiterated those autopsy findings. The release stated Dominguez had been in a physical altercation the night he died, but the investigation determined he and the other individual involved walked away from the fight independently.

The release added that Dominguez did not have any injuries from the altercation that contributed to or caused his death. Investigators reviewed evidence, witness statements and the autopsy findings throughout the investigation, the release stated. Breckenridge Police Department’s investigation was conducted in coordination with the Summit County Coroner’s Office and the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
