Xcel Energy outage results in numerous closures at Summit County ski resorts

On Friday morning, Summit County experienced widespread power outages due to a major gas leak in the region, according to a release from the Summit County Government.

Xcel Energy worked through the morning to mitigate the issue, but lingering power outages remained in the county through the early afternoon.

The outages also affected lift service and other amentities at the county’s handful of ski resorts and ski areas.
