Letter to the editor: Back to the school bus for some, but not others
Keystone
Who receives the service of bus service and who does not has become an issue. Coming from the Midwest, the rule simple. It appears that Summit Schools does not have a policy; it all depends on where you live. Blue River receives bus service, Copper Mountain receives bus service, Breckenridge receives bus service, Keystone receives bus service but North of Silverthorne, the farm and ranch communities, do not. There is not enough room on the bus for these students!
They were told it was a privilege, but who receives this privilege? I have followed a bus from Summit Cove Elementary, a full size bus, that dropped off six students in Keystone. So, why can’t Summit Schools pick up the rural students of northern Summit County? Let’s help support all of the Summit families, no matter where they live, and get their children to school.
The school district is likely going to ask for our support to help finance the schools. Isn’t it time that the school district helps all of Summit County’s children?
