Letter to the editor: Dillon Town Council member John Woods should be recalled

Sue Gannett
Dillon

As president of Dillon Bay Homeowners Association, I think Mr. John Woods has repeatedly failed in his responsibilities as a council member by showing a lack of respect, contempt and making personal attacks on the very community he was elected to represent.

I was shocked and appalled to hear Mr. Woods, a Dillon Town Council member, make the following statements below regarding Dillon Bay Condominiums.

At a recent council meeting, Mr. Woods publicly stated that Dillon Bay’s Condominiums has multiple sewage backups and no one should buy a condominium in Dillon Bay. He further volunteered he would never buy a condo in Dillon Bay and said it is the “worst place in Summit County.”

To make matters worse, in an apparent attempt at clarifying himself at a subsequent Town Council meeting, Mr. Woods doubled down on the falsities and failed to make any discernible retraction or meaningful apology. His disparaging statements regarding Dillon Bay Condos are unacceptable, demonstrably false, slanderous and quite malicious.

It is a council member’s responsibility to be respectful, polite and deferential toward all: to fellow council members, staff and the public — regardless of likes, dislikes, friendships, politics. A member doesn’t insult, attack or demand.
