Letter to the editor: Governmental entities need to keep their spending in check
Silverthorne
Clearly the Summit Fire & EMS “impact fee” is nothing other than a new tax.
Summit County needs to face up to the fact that there is a limit to how much of other peoples’ money they can take from the residents of the county.
Rather than adding an additional drag on development on the county, they need to reassess their spending habits. Government has a duty to keep the citizens safe, including safe roads, public safety (fire and police) and basic utilities. Expenditures beyond that are luxuries.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
