Letter to the editor: How can we make people follow e-bike rules in Summit?

As a part-time resident of Summit County, I immensely enjoy the recreational pathway and love biking from Frisco to Breckenridge on Sunday morning for church, on my lovely Class 1 electric bike. Yesterday, I was about half way there when I was overtaken by someone going at least 25 mph. I was doing about 15 mph. The other e-biker was not pedaling and passed without any notice that they were passing. The person was heavily bundled up and went on their merry way.

This was clearly not a Class 1 bike, and I know this is not the first time this has been noted. My question to the readers is: “How can one control or police this sort of behavior?” I wasn’t injured, but easily might have been, as could any of the recreational users of this wonderful path. Sunday morning is busy times there, with many families with small children. Any information on this? If I had called authorities, this person would have long been in Breckenridge, and I had no other descriptors. Thanks.
