Letter to the editor: Let’s fight to keep Dillon’s movie theater in business
Keystone
I recently read, with dismay, the story about plans to build more housing on the Skyline Cinema property.
While housing is important for our community, having a movie theater is also vital. This is the only multi-screen movie theater anywhere near Summit County. It serves as a place for families to gather and see a movie, it is a crucial entertainment venue for our children, and it is the only place to enjoy current newly released movies. Yes, the theater needs a little tender and loving care, but its useful economic life is far from being over! Movie theaters are a critical part of thriving communities, and Summit County cannot afford to lose the Skyline Cinema!
Please write and call the Dillon town counsel and other community leaders to express your resistance to bulldozing our theater and eliminating all of the benefits it provides to our community. The developers need to move on, and find another location to build more apartments and/or condos!
