Letter to the editor: Redeveloping Dillon is harder than peace in the Middle East

While walking around Dillon Reservoir, I discovered an ancient-looking bottle on the shore.

I opened it, and out came an enormous genie, who said I will grant you one wish. I replied that I wished for peace in the Middle East. The genie pulled out a map and said, “That is almost impossible. Look at the boundaries of these countries. These people have been waging war against each other for a thousand years. Don’t you have a simpler request?”

I responded, “OK, I wish for the Dillon Town Council and the people of Dillon to all agree on a plan to redevelop Dillon’s downtown.”

The Genie looked even more disgruntled and said, “Let me take a look again at that map of the Middle East.”
