Letter to the editor: Summit Daily News needs more balance in its reporting
Frisco
It seems that Summit Daily coverage of Xcel Energy’s natural gas proposal forgot Journalism 101 in only getting feedback from one side instead of providing balance coverage. In addition the feedback presented have serious misconceptions. It is obvious that renewable energy sources need 24/7 backup. This needs to be either very large battery complexes or fossil fuel with both carrying very high cost.
It is mentioned that renewable are cheaper, but this flies in the face of real world experiences. For example both California and Germany give renewables massive subsidies, but even so California has power cost twice the U.S. average and Germany three times.
It seems fact checking is needed on this article. I certainly don’t want to put my faith in renewables only to have power cost spike or worst yet my heat to go out in winter with the resultant very expensive significant water damage that results.
