Oct. 18 there was a momentous event in Frisco — the “No Kings” rally/protest. Approximately 1,500 people of all ages participated in this peaceful protest of the current president of the United States.

What a wonderful demonstration of exercising our right to have freedom of speech and the freedom to peacefully protest. People came dressed in costumes, there was music and people were joyful; however, all the various signs people held showed just how sad, disgusted and concerned we all were and are about the state of our current federal government.

Many, many drivers passing by honked in support of the people lining Summit Boulevard and part of Main Street. There were also drivers who demonstrated their disagreement by putting up their middle finger or by racing by the crowd lining the street. All the peaceful protestors took this in stride — we all have the right to our opinion.

As I previously said, there were protestors of all ages and so, what was disturbing were the few cars who drove at a very high speed in the turning lane onto Main Street and the motorcyclist who drove at a very high speed into the turning lane only to hit the curb and go down. I am so grateful that none of the protestors were hurt. The protesters were all peaceful, and this irresponsible act of the motorcyclist was sad in deed. Thank you to all my fellow citizens who came out to peacefully voice their opinions.
