The countdown to ski season at Breckenridge Ski Resort is officially underway.

With the resort set to open on Friday morning, Nov. 7, the festivities will begin on Thursday, Nov. 6, with the annual community tradition, Wake Up Breck. The event allows eager skiers and riders to visit participating coffee shops across town to collect a free commemorative mug as well as a cup of coffee.

This year, the resort is encouraging attendees to help fill their neighbor’s cup by considering a donation to the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center. For the last 50 years, the organization has expanded the potential of people with disabilities and special needs through meaningful, educational and inspiring outdoor experiences.

Breckenridge Ski Resort will match the first $5K of individual donations, kicking off the resort’s annual support of over $1 million to the BOEC as the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary. 

Wake Up Breck begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday morning and will last until all the mugs run out. Mugs typically run out within the hour, so guests are encouraged to arrive early. Mugs are limited to one per person. Participating coffee shops include Clint’s Bakery & Coffee House, Coffee Depot at Main Street Station, Cool River Cafe, The Crown, Cuppa Joe’s, Daylight Donuts, Mountain View Coffee, Starbucks, Unravel Coffee at Gravity Haus and Ullr Café at the base of Peak 8.
