On Friday, Aug. 29, Copper Mountain announced that it will be opening for the 2025-26 winter season on Nov. 7.
With the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics taking place in February, the winter season is expected to be one of Copper’s biggest yet.
Most notably, Copper will host two World Cup competitions prior to the start of the winter games. Over Thanksgiving weekend fro Nov. 27-30, the Stifel Copper Cup will make its debut at the resort.
The competition will bring Alpine ski racing back to the resort and will feature men’s Super-G, men’s giant slalom, women’s giant slalom and women’s slalom ski races. With 101 World Cup wins, Mikaela Shiffrin is expected to lead the women’s field.
The action will continue with the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix World Cup from Dec. 19-20. The event will feature the world’s top skiers and riders in Copper’s 22-foot superpipe. Both World Cup events give fans a rare chance to see elite athletes in action just a few weeks before the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Similar to previous years, Copper and Breckenridge Ski Resort will share an opening day on Nov. 7.
