A 19-year-old from Summit County died while riding his motorcycle July 15 on Interstate 70 in Jefferson County.

An autopsy report provided by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office stated Zander Smith died from “craniocerebral and neck injuries” due to the crash. It stated the manner of his death was an accident.

The crash occurred near the Youngsfield Street exit in Wheat Ridge and involved Smith’s motorcycle, a bus and “possibly a third unknown vehicle,” according to the Colorado State Patrol. Smith died after first responders administered emergency medical measures at the scene.

Smith’s family described him as funny, fearless and an “immovable force of nature” in previous Summit Daily reporting.

Workers at Breckenridge Distillery, where Smith worked, set up a GoFundMe to support Smith’s family.

Summit Daily News has requested a copy of Colorado State Patrol’s incident report for the crash, but the agency denied the request, stating the report is not yet complete.
