Coroner releases identity of man who died after being flown from Keystone Resort

The Summit County Coroner’s Office identified the man who was pronounced dead in the hospital after being flown there from Keystone Resort on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
Coroner Amber Flenniken wrote in an email that the man was Eric Baltz, a 59-year-old man from Westminster, Colorado.
Ski patrol responded to The Grizz, a single-black run in the resort’s Outback area, when bystanders called for help, according to a Summit County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post. The bystanders gave Baltz CPR until ski patrol arrived, and patrollers continued life-saving efforts before moving Baltz to an area where a Flight for Life helicopter could land, the post stated.
The helicopter took Baltz to CommonSpirit St. Anthony Summit Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Baltz was wearing a helmet while skiing, the post stated.
