Eagle County Sheriff’s Office investigating death of teenager as a homicide

Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a juvenile fatality that occurred on Wednesday, April 24, just before 10 p.m.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Second Street Park in Gypsum Wednesday for a reported disturbance involving several people, according to a release. The deputies found that multiple teenagers had been involved in an altercation and that, during the incident, one teenager was seriously injured.

The juvenile suspect had fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival, and the victim was transported for life-saving treatment. The victim later succumbed to their injuries.



The suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident and remains in police custody. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.
