Frisco in search of artist for new Adventure Park mural

The Frisco Adventure Park will be receiving a new permanent mural this fall, and the town of Frisco and its Arts and Culture Council are seeking the right artist to create it.
“This mural project is intended to blend art, outdoor recreation and the natural beauty of Frisco while creating an engaging visual experience for visitors of all ages,” said a recent press release from the town. “The mural should complement the aesthetics of the Frisco Adventure Park and enhance the surrounding built and natural environment.”
Design applications of all kinds are accepted, though the town notes that the design should have “broad appeal” and fit within the 635 square feet of paintable space allotted for the project, which span over one building’s four exterior walls.
Applicants are encouraged to review the Town of Frisco Arts and Culture Plan for inspiration and to ensure that their design fits within the town’s vision for future art installations.
The chosen artist will receive $12,700, which includes compensation for the project’s services, materials, travel and installation. Artists are not required to live in Frisco to apply; local, regional, statewide and national applications are encouraged.
Interested artists should compile two to six samples of their completed work and a letter detailing their artistic experience and why the project interests them. These applications should be sent to Blair Miller at BlairM@TownofFrisco.com no later than Aug. 9.
The winner will be notified by Aug. 31 and the mural will be installed by Oct. 17, ahead of winter operations at the park.
More information regarding application parameters, dates and payment are available on FriscoGov.com.
