Girls on the Run of Western Colorado is preparing to celebrate 25 years of inspiring girls with the Fall Frisco 5K on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Summit Middle School.

The 5K will begin at 11 a.m. and is open to the public. The annual Fall Frisco 5K will serve as both the end-of-season celebration for Girls on the Run participants and as a community-wide event recognizing the program’s impact across Western Colorado.

Girls on the Run of Western Colorado is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program for girls in third through eighth grade. The program combines running games and engaging lessons that foster self-confidence, peer connections and community involvement.

The event is expected to draw more than 500 participants this year, including runners, walkers, families and supporters of all ages and abilities. Early registration for the event will cost $25 until Wednesday, Oct. 22, with day-of registration costing $35. The first 175 registered participants will receive a commemorative Girls on the Run-branded item.

All proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run of Western Colorado and its mission to empower young girls.
