A man is dead after falling in the trees near Duke’s Run at Breckenridge Ski Resort Thursday, Feb. 1, according to Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons.

FitzSimons said there were no witnesses to the accident, but law enforcement records show the 52-year-old man from Miami, Florida was located around roughly 2 p.m. Breckenridge Ski Resort spokesperson Sara Lococo said ski patrol transported the man to a first aid room.

“After further emergency care and evaluation, the male was pronounced deceased,” Lococo said in a statement.

Duke’s Run is an intermediate “blue” run on Peak 8 to the north of Rocky Mountain SuperChair.

“Breckenridge Ski Resort, Ski Patrol and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family and friends,” said Jon Copeland, vice president and chief operating officer at Breckenridge Ski Resort.

A request seeking additional information from the Summit County Coroner’s Office was not immediately returned Friday.
