Registration opens for 12th annual Frisco Turkey Day 5k

Registration is now open for the 12th annual Frisco Turkey Day 5k that is set to be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, at 9:30 a.m.
The annual 5k is open to all ages and historically draws over 1,000 participants in costumes. The race begins and ends at the old Frisco Community Center at 110 3rd Ave. near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Granite Street.
The race will take place rain, snow or shine on Frisco and county side streets as well as on the Summit County Recreational Path. Streets will remain open during the race, but the streets generally see less traffic and there will be marshals on the course to assist runners.
The town is encouraging motorists to use extra caution if they cannot avoid the race area between 9:30 and 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Portions of the course will potentially include surfaces with packed snow and/or ice. Leashed dogs and strollers are welcome, but snow on the route may make pushing a stroller challenging. Participants should dress in layers and be prepared for winter running conditions.
Pre-registration is highly encouraged and will close at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 25, as the event is likely to sell out. Participants may visit FriscoTurkey5k.com to register online. Registration fees are $30 for adults, $15 for youth (6-17 years old) and free for kids ages 5 and under.
If the event has not sold out, on-site registration will be available from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, and from 8 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, November 27, at the old Community Center.
A post–race party will be held at the finish line and will feature sweet treats from Butterhorn Bakery, mini pies from Saved by the Wine, coffee and cocoa, as well as a chance to win prizes.
The Turkey Day 5k needs many volunteers to assist with day of registration and course marshaling. Volunteers may sign up by visiting FriscoTurkey5k.com. Questions about this event may be emailed to Events@TownofFrisco.com.
