Resurfacing to close Dillon Dam Road next week
Dillon Dam Road will close between U.S. Highway 6 and the Denver Water guard shack from Sept. 14-18 for a resurfacing project.
The town of Dillon announced the project in a news release Sept. 8. The road will be closed to all traffic throughout the construction and the resurfacing schedule is weather dependent. Drivers accessing the Dillon town core, residences and condos, marina, parks and amphitheater should use Lake Dillon Drive, and anyone heading from Dillon to Frisco or Breckenridge can use Swan Mountain Road or Interstate 70, the release stated.
Crews will perform asphalt milling Monday and paving and striping Tuesday through Thursday. Weather conditions may cause work to continue into Friday, according to the release. The resurfacing will help maintain the roadway, it added.
Dillon town engineer Dan Burroughs said in prior town council meetings that the project had originally been scheduled for earlier in the summer, but in the interest of limiting traffic impacts, the town delayed it to give Summit County time to finish its resurfacing project on Swan Mountain Road.
