On Sunday, Aug. 10, the Summit Historical Society will be hosting its sixth annual vintage baseball game at Dillon Town Park.
The free, family-friendly event celebrates 19th-century baseball while raising funds for the society’s education and preservation program. The game will feature the Summit Sluggers versus the Start Baseball Club of Colorado Territory.
According to the Summit Historical Society, Summit County had 24 baseball teams in 1900. The vintage game brings the history behind the game to life, with players donning period uniforms and following 1864 rules.
Families can enjoy classic concessions, activities and a spirited best baseball brew contest between Angry James and Broken Compass. Other game-day activities include a pup tent photo booth, a children’s tent and a concert from the Summit Concert Band.
The first pitch is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m.
An online auction will open Aug. 3 at the Breckenridge Distillery and features items like a complete 1970s Yankees uniform and three more custom items.
More details about the game can be found at SummitHistorical.org.
