Blue River lockdown

A wanted man with a history of evading police was arrested following a safety lockdown in Blue River on March 11. The lockdown warned residents to stay inside and lock their doors due to police activity in the area. The lockdown ended about an hour later following the arrest of the wanted man on charges related to the death of a 34-year-old Denver resident.

Gas prices

Gas prices in Colorado’s ski towns have risen notably following sharp increases in petroleum prices related to potential disruptions to crude supplies from the Middle East. After the United State’s conflict with Iran created threats to oil supply and a major global shipping route, the national average price of gasoline saw its largest single-day spike since 2022. The national average price for regular gas was $3.25 per gallon as of March 5.



Dillon Valley death

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man near Dillon Valley following an explosion and vehicle fire the morning of March 6. When emergency responders arrived, they found a vehicle engulfed in flames. One male occupant inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the fire and explosion appear to be an isolated incident and that there is no risk to public safety.
