The Snake River Music Festival, which hosts free classical music concerts, will have a special opening night concert July 1 at the Dillon Community Church.

In the past, the festival’s season has started in August, but this year’s July 1 concert will serve as a “prelude” to the regular season, which will run Aug. 12-23, according to a news release. All festival concerts are free, although donations are appreciated, and hosted at the Dillon Community Church.

The July 1 concert, Opening Night: Poems and Wildflowers, will start with a reception at 5:30 p.m., and music will start at 6 p.m. The release stated the concert will help celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary with musical “fireworks” provided by Suyeon Kim on piano, Jeff McCray on bassoon and Shane Werts on oboe.
