Summit County towns see some of the coldest temperatures across state
On Friday, Nov. 30, the U.S. National Weather Service out of Boulder/Denver posted some of the coldest 12-hour minimal temperatures across the state.
Among the places featured on the list were two Summit County towns — Dillon and Breckenridge. According to the National Weather Service, Dillon recorded a 12-hour minimal temperature of -12 degrees Fahrenheit, while Breckenridge recorded a temperature of -2 degrees Fahrenheit.
U.S. 40 at Fraser Flats had the lowest temperature at -27 degrees Fahrenheit.
The National Weather Service noted that the drop in temperature is due to clearing skies after the most recent snow storm. As the clouds clear, the temperature plummets in low-lying areas where the cold air likes to sink.
