This weekend, the town of Frisco hosted its Fabulous Fourth of July celebration, which included both a parade down Main Street and a youth fishing derby, among other events

Both the derby and parade were judged events, and winners can pick up their prizes at the Frisco Town Hall starting Monday, July 13.

Of the 75 young anglers who entered the town’s fishing derby, five were selected for prizes. Van Johnson was named first placer angler, followed by Bo Brown in second place, Weston Sherrill in third place and a tie for fourth place between Grayson Wessel and Hunt Knox.

The parade also saw high numbers of participants, with a top three selected out of 70 applicants on the basis of style, whimsy and crowd appeal.

First place went to the Frisco Cabin Team, which “created an artfully designed float celebrating 250 years of freedom in the USA and 150 years of the good life in Colorado,” according to a recent press release from the town. Second place went to Vine Street Social’s “Bikes and Bubbles”-themed float.

In third place, judges selected Golden Horseshoe Sleigh Rides and Dinner Theater, which brought their Belgian draft horse team — a duo named Buzz and Woody — and the “legendary dancehall girl” Diamond Dixie.
