Water district serving Summit Cove implements water restrictions
The East Dillon Water District implemented mandatory watering restrictions under a Stage 2 water shortage warning on April 1.
District administrator Tom Oberheide wrote in an email that customers in the area have reported being unaware of the restrictions since they were implemented, and the district’s water use has been increasing. The district provides water to Summit Cove, Key West Farms, Summerwood, Keystone West Ranch, Soda Creek, Swan Meadow Village, Meadow Wood, Whispering Pines and Snowberry.
The restrictions prevent the use of automated sprinkler or irrigation systems, including drip irrigation. Hand watering with a watering can or a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle is allowed in accordance with the district’s Stage 1 watering schedule. Even-numbered addresses can hand water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while odd-numbered ones can on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The watering must happen before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m., according to a district public notice.
A resident’s first violation of the restrictions will lead to a warning, but subsequent ones could result in fines or suspension of water service, the notice stated.
Those with questions can contact the district by calling 970-468-6256 or emailing Admin@eastdillon.com. For more information, visit EastDillonWD.Colorado.gov.
